Leave it to Luka to put things off until the last minute. It seems to be happening more and more often lately...[break][break]

Valentine's is her favorite holiday— it's a celebration of love, the most important thing in the world. But all she's felt towards it this year is lethargy. The same feeling extends, in a way, to all other aspects of her life. But at least she's trying— and something something fresh air and exercise...that's what's supposed to help, isn't it?[break][break]

So off she goes, with her Lopunny in tow, hoping that this excursion might help her find what she's looking for— even if she doesn't know what that is.

Bonbon's bounding steps lead off the path more often than not, which Luka normally wouldn't mind. But she doesn't have the energy for a wild excursion today. An apologetic smile graces her lips as she holds out her hand to her rabbit companion, who seems a little disappointed but nods in understanding.[break][break]

The pair heads off together, blissfully unaware of any hidden pokemon in their midst.[break][break]

This time, when Bonbon tugs on her hand, Luka slows down.[break][break]

She'd nearly dragged the pair of them past a field in the middle of the safari; a garden of pinks and reds that sparkle like gemstones amongst the almost oppressive green that surrounds it. Luka breathes in, early spring air and gentle perfume filling her lungs, and sighs.[break][break]

"Sorry, you're right. Let's take a break, okay?"[break][break]

She'd been so determined to be miserable that she'd almost missed this. So instead the young woman forces herself to enjoy the calm of the forest for a while, stringing flowers into daisy chains for herself and her companion. Eventually, the pair of them is joined by another: a Flabebe interested in their handiwork. It takes very little coaxing to get the little fairy involved, and two crowns quickly becomes four, and a necklace, and a garland...[break][break]

Needless to say, it's a better way to pass the time than sulking.[break][break]

Flowers continue to weave themselves skillfully together, but soon enough the trio runs out of fallen blooms to play with. And even though there's an entire garden at their disposal, Luka has a feeling their new fairy friend wouldn't take kindly to them uprooting more plants to play with.[break][break]

Still, the ambiance is lovely, and she feels more at peace right now than she has in quite some time. So Luka elects to simply sit and enjoy the company of two cuties for a while, paying little attention to whatever other creatures might roam nearby.[break][break]

After spending so much time in the gardens, it's really no wonder that they're attracting even more flowers.[break][break]

Luka almost doesn't notice the Roselia at first— another rose amongst the other blooms doesn't immediately attract attention. But she does a double take at the color; purple and black stand out amongst the peachy colors surrounding them. It takes a bit of coaxing, but she eventually manages to convince the little grass type to come out and join them— much to her new Flabebe's delight.[break][break]

The two floral Pokemon understand each other in a way Luka and Bonbon can't quite grasp, but they're happy to sit and observe while the other two bond. In the end, one of the smaller flower garlands is presented to the grass type, who coos happily and drapes it over her little shoulders. That seems to indicate a successful befriending as well as anything![break][break]

As it turns out, it's not only grass types that are attracted to their merrymaking.[break][break]

Two has quickly become four, but the party is far from over. More shuffling in the fields nearby reveals a set of white-tipped ears slowly moving closer and closer. Luka pretends not to notice them, lest she scare the little thing off— they seem far more anxious than the Roserade from earlier.[break][break]

The Minccino emerges on her own terms, sniffing curiously at the little party assembled in the gardens. She's quick to be welcomed with her own flower crown, which is accepted with another cautious sniff.[break][break]

This time, it's Bonbon that has a better time of introducing a fellow mammal into the fold. In fact, it doesn't take long for the Minccino to start clambering all over the larger rabbit, and winds up sitting in her lap as the impromptu party continues.[break][break]

Days like these always seem to end the same.[break][break]

The sun continues it's relentless descent, and the air carries an evening chill. With three new Pokemon in tow, it seems about time to wrap things up and going.[break][break]

But just as Luka starts to stand and dust off her skirt, a plaintive meow cuts through the still air. She startles and looks round, eventually catching sight of wide purple eyes and a green body almost perfectly concealed by the grass around it.[break][break]

It's a Pokemon she's never seen before, so Luka approaches with caution. Hand held in front of her, steps slow and careful. Apparently, this little cat has been watching them for a while, and has already made a judgement about her, for they bump their head right into Luka's hand, demanding pets.[break][break]

Her heart melts right then and there. And after a few more meows and several minutes of petting, the cat is curled up in Luka's arms and kneading biscuits into her sleeves as she makes her way out of the safari with her team.[break][break]
